Story telling – averting disaster – and wisdom…

Stories, ever notice how the best story tellers always have a crowd around them? Whether its your rabbi or pastor at temple or church or a local teacher or speaker or now an online personality, those who tell stories attract visitors. Why? We all love a good story told by a good story teller. I was reminded of this fact today and I thank Harlan Kilstein for doing so.

Now, lets also talk briefly about the ‘post-Zeek’ world – many have been hurt by Zeeks closure. Not that there weren’t signs of trouble along the road…but when greed clouds judgment, well the results are often undesirable. What bothers me at the moment, is the “guru’s” are coming out to feed on the carcas’ (if its plural, is it “carci”?) – and they are offering former Zeek reps programs that are just as phony as Zeek was. I guess many will jump at them and get burned *again*.

I would rather encourage you to PAUSE and REFLECT and learn – even if you were never in Zeek – do you know what to watch for? And, no it is not the obvious! I claim there are ways to protect yourself – and I will share them Tuesday evening at 9pm EDT here…  After you register, if you are brought to a page that seems to have nothing to do with our webinar coming up, thats ok; I will get notification of your signup and will send you an email directly to insure you have the right link to sign-in and attend.

ok, couple of things to remember…

1)  – go here to sign up for Tuesday’s webinar (8/21/12 @ 9pm EDT)

2) for my (free) blog curation training videos

Sage advice…and yelling at the Sun!

So, I was yelling at the Sun earlier, yes, the SUN! No, I’m not crazy. I’m just noticing that the sun is now getting “weaker”, yes, even here in Texas! As our planet “turns”, the Sun gets just a little “weaker” each day and now, nearly two months past the Summer Solstice, the effect is in full motion and the change week to week will be noticeable for at least the next couple of months.

I went for a bike ride at dawn and the temperature was *almost* “cool”! Just a hint of what is to come! And… it looks like it will not even hit 100 today! (Thank God for small favors, eh?!)

The video below was recorded a few days ago… in it I talk about a number of thought provoking issues, but did not mention “penny auctions” – even though Zeek has always been present in my mind (since it seems that the whole world has been “in” it). Anyone who knows me, knows my opinion about penny auctions, and knows that I have stayed out of them. I don’t know if you heard, but Zeek closed their doors last night – and, I don’t know if Zeek’s closure is temporary or permanent, but it serves as a reminder to us all to choose wisely who you affiliate with AND to have a genuine business of your own to fall back upon. (Contact me if you wish to explore that train of thought – there is a lot behind it)

Here is the bottom line (as I see it), as an entrepreneur, you have to have a PLAN…and then execute YOUR plan. I’m not saying you can not modify your plan as time goes on, in fact you’d be foolish if you do not! My thoughts shared below are just those – thoughts – listen to them if you wish, reflect upon them and if you have thoughts of your own you’d like to share, then by all means, please leave a comment below and share this post if you feel someone may benefit from my message.

A shout out to some great folks at McClains RV, Rocky Mountain RV, and ExplorerRV

I have been on the road 9 months now. And while this time has not been without challenges, I’d like to introduce you to 3 groups of folks that have made those challenges a whole lot easier to manage and deal with. As I write this, I am in Corinth, Texas. I came to Texas in July for an event – a phenomenal event – called “Restoring Love”. It was held in Arlington and was organized by a man whom I have developed great respect for.

On my way to Arlington, I had a blowout on July 15 and that has led to a series of repairs that as of August 15, I’m still here, but were it not for the folks at McClains RV in Corinth, I’m sure I’d be in far rougher shape. The time table on my repairs is really not very important, but the professionalism and assistance offered by all of McClains staff has been “above and beyond” (watch my video for commentary). Suffice to say, if you are ever in the Texas or Oklahoma region and need service, look them up (they have several locations – and if they are all run like this one here in Corinth… then you’re in for a solid and positive experience regardless of what you need.

Earlier this year, I had an “incident” in Utah that led me to Rocky Mountain RV in Albuquerque, NM. Just as with McClains, they are professional, honest, easy to work with and I would absolutely go back there for service when I’m anywhere near northern New Mexico! Bob is the service manager, he and his desk staff again made what could have been a difficult experience much easier. His technicians (as with Russ and Pat’s at McClains) are professional, solid, honest guys who go “above and beyond.”

One piece, we often like to malign or complain about – but NOT in this case is our insurance company. At ExplorerRV, from Bill in sales (who insures you have the *right* coverage at a good price (in many cases the *best* price) to Holly in claims (with Interstate), they made the two claims I have had easy to process and resolve. They again went above and beyond, allowing me to select my own service center and working with that service center in a timely and fair manner. (again – see my video for more commentary)

To ALL three firms, I commend “job well done” and have faith that these solid, American companies will continue to grow and prosper!

Sunday morning in Corinth Texas – an update on lots of things…

I created 3 videos this morning, so I’m feeling productive!

I even got in an hour of McHale’s Navy! Yup, the original from the ’60’s!

I’m relaxing in my RV while “camped” here at McClain’s RV. This next week will bring more “adventures” in RV repair. Watch my video to see what I’m talking about! As you will see and learn, I have much to look forward to and overall things are going well. I’ve met some great people along the way – including some here at McClains. PS – I also mention an upcoming “learning experience” that may happen one evening this week!

Enjoy the video then if you want to see me in a “classic rant” – watch the 2nd video below!

This next video is a rant based upon what I read is happening in one part of the Jersey Shore…
